I hope you're packing in lots of summer goodness...and/or bingeing Stars on Mars. Same/same.

Table inspiration

My dear friend Karen recently sent me a picture of what she sees from the spot where she does her morning contemplation practice. Isn't it lovely?

She graciously agreed to let me share it here and wrote a little about it:

This table gets a lot of use in its season. Sometimes I have my morning coffee and I draw; we eat dinner here; my kids gather with their friends to play board games or eat pizza; and in the spring I pot my plants here.

This week Karen will celebrate a Big Birthday. I hope this table fills up with people you adore! You are so loved!!!

Send your tables!

Now I'm hooked. Send me a picture of your table or a table you see out and about, with a sentence or two about what happens there! Keep it face-free, for privacy reasons. It doesn't need to be fancy or perfectly composed; all of the places where we gather to work and talk and eat are inspiring.

I can't wait to share your dining - conference - lab - coffee - workshop - library tables...we'll open our imaginations about what the Table can be and do!

Important reminder for parents

We ALL MUST REMEMBER Jen Hatmaker's annual PSA about the end of the first week of school. PUT THE PEOPLE (including yourself) ON THE COUCH AND WATCH MOVIES. It's some of the best parenting advice I have ever, ever received.

And...an oldie but a goodie

We visited my parents last week and died laughing for the sixtieth time about this photo collection of men doing dumb stuff. Every single time we look at it, my dad and husband defend the dudes in at least four of the pictures: "See, that one, though, is fine. That one's a good idea." It is never a good idea.

Have a wonderful weekend! Don't do dumb stuff! xo
