Hello, happy Friday, and happy first real week of summer! I'm scheduling this post ahead of time, as my husband and teenagers and I are road tripping this week. I'm banking on extreme harmony as pictured above. The trip's motto is Cheerful AF (where "AF" = "And Fun" or "As a Family," obv). Say a prayer for us!
Table inspiration
"I used to imagine my calling was to defend the Truth. Now I’m just trying to figure out how to love. It’s not that I’ve given up on truth. It’s just that I’m less confident we’ll think our way out of the morass and malaise in which we find ourselves. Analysis won’t save us. And the truth of the gospel is less a message to be taught than a mystery enacted.” (James K.A. Smith)

Karen M wrote the most lovely little profile of her non-superhero role model:
My friend Erin Morey is the first person I thought of. She’s a public defender recently turned priest. I remember meeting her after church one day as we complimented one another on our strange shoe choices. I think we started attending our parish around the same time and her son is the same age as my youngest and they became good friends (something I had been praying for in his life). She is a breast cancer survivor, an activist, and she has served as one of the Episcopal Church’s delegates to the United Nations Commission on the Status of Women. But she’s a real person and a hero and someone I am blessed to know. Her ordination this past December was so unique and so beautiful… they played Where the River Meets the Sea from Emmet Otter’s Jug Band Christmas — Pure. Delight.
She brings a strength and clarity and an honesty when she preaches. I sometimes imagine her dropping an imaginary mic afterwards in my head (even though that’s not her style at all — she’s all humility). I am so grateful she is here being amazing and being real.
I want to hear about more of these people! I want to interview and feature them here! Drop a comment or a line to let me know whom we should be tracking down.

Have you taken this personality test that purports to triangulate you along two spectrums, Jock vs Nerd and Prep vs Goth? "True Nerd" lands for me...but 31% Goth?! Tell us in the comments: where do you land???
Cheerful (and Goth, I guess) AF — xoxo
