Happy Friday, y'all! Tonight is a birthday sleepover with 5 giggling 12- and 13-year-olds, so tomorrow's coffee had better be EXTRA.

Table inspiration

In memory of Rachel Held Evans, who's been gone for four years this week, a line from her Wholehearted Faith:

I thought there was just one table in Christ’s banquet hall, and the giant, glorious, blazing sign over it read EVANGELICALISM. What I’ve learned is that the room of feasting is much wider, deeper and grander than I could have imagined, filled with all manner of tables spilling over with a mind-blowing diversity of dishes and dinnertime companions, rich and spicy curries that my palate can barely handle, and wild and wonderful convictions that my brain can barely process.

Comment highlight

On seeking spiritual/ethical leadership "from the margins," Corrie recommends novels by non-western writers like "Chimamanda Ngozi Adichi, Jhumpa Lahiri, Chinua Achebe. When they write about immigrating to the West, it's a special kind of decentering mirror." A special kind of decentering mirror: brilliant.

If you haven't yet added your favorite leaders/writers in the comments on Tuesday's post, please do; let's share resources!
